North Logistics has taken delivery of six battery-electric tractor units for a twelve-month trial at its Rotterdam terminal. The vehicles will operate short shuttles between the port, the Waalhaven hub and customer yards, covering around 180 kilometres a day.
The trial will measure real-world range with loaded trailers, charging times and the effect of winter temperatures. Four depot chargers have been installed at Waalhaven, powered partly by a renewable supply contract.
Findings will inform the group’s fleet replacement plan for 2027 to 2029, and will be shared with customers who have asked for lower-emission freight options.
