North Logistics has opened a 12,000 square metre consolidation hub at Waalhaven in Rotterdam. The facility brings the division’s cross-border groupage operation under one roof and adds a direct rail connection to the terminal.
The hub handles palletised and part-load consignments moving between the United Kingdom, Ireland, the Netherlands and the Ruhr. Consolidating at a single site removes one handling step from most consignments and allows later cut-off times for next-day delivery into Germany.
“Our customers are not asking for a bigger network, they are asking for fewer surprises,” said Sofia Lindqvist, Managing Director of North Logistics. “One roof, one scanning point and one set of paperwork is worth more to them than another depot on the map.”
The site employs 40 people, mostly warehouse operatives and planners, and has capacity for around 9,000 consignments a month. Operations transferred from two smaller leased facilities during August, and the division expects the hub to reach full utilisation in the first quarter of 2027.
